Southern Hospitality
I like the people in this part of NC. Southern hospitality isn’t just a quaint cliche. People are friendlier, more polite, and in less of a rush than the folks from northern cities.
Raleigh is not a bad looking place for a rapidly growing metroplex— very green, even when it’s 100° because of the humidity. The region is also very sunny. If it isn’t raining, then the sun is out (unlike S.E. MI in winter). During the winter months, Raleigh runs about 20° warmer than Ann Arbor. Right now (noon) it’s 52 here and 36 in Ypsilanti.
The region is called the Sandhills and there is a big local tradition of amateur music making for both young and old folks alike— mostly blue grass and gospel. It’s fairly conservative here, but I seem to get along just fine.
